Rolls-Royce Trent is a family of turbofan aircraft engines with high dilution ratio for civilian use products from the British Rolls-Royce plc.

Test Fan off – explosion scoop
The Blade-off is a specific form of the safety tests required by the air Federal Aviation Administration and other agencies aimed acertificate security of supply of jet engines. The tests require the engine manufacturers to make at least two parts of the engine, to make sure that the engine can survive the rupture of one stage of the compressor or the rupture of a single blade of fan inside, without causing the explosion of the engine, at least without fragments can be thrown out of the engine itself. The tests are set out in 14, Part 33, Subpart F of 33.94 of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR),test and rupture containment rotor test.
The tests usually require a single stage compressor or a specially prepared with a small shovel cartridge, so as to simulate the breaking of these components during the test.
The ability to contain an explosion from a jet engine was born from the need to avoid damage to aircraft itself, the cause of numerous accidents in the past. Specify that the rule does not apply to engines that are already in service.
Standard tests do not require that the engines are able to continue operations after the breakup of a pallet or by the ingestion of external fragmentation, but as to ensure sealing outer envelope engine, that will not cause damage on ‘whole structure vehicle.
