Guides and InsightsProgramsCompression

It is not questioning the efficiency shown by the now-famous 7-Zip compressor, is not what we are concerned in this article, we analyze and solve one of the flaws instead of this utility really necessary, (which combines all the compression formats now in circulation), the only thing missing is a good set of icons. In fact, the icons that currently use 7-Zip are very simple icons would be nice to have those kind of WinZip with the efficiency of 7-zip?

For those who do not know what 7-Zip, it is not a replacement for Winzip, it is not only much faster than the latter, but has better compression than all other formats now in use, while retaining full compatibility with them, a feature also not be underestimated: it’s free! (donations are appreciated:))

The set of icons created on the basis of a simple icon zip, are fairly common, but a little different than the basic style with 7z logo (very small) added.

7-Zip icons

The icons can be downloaded at the following link:

You must edit the file in the folder 7z.dll program 7-Zip and add these icons. To do this you can use the program – ResHack. Or if following it to proceed without the need to download any program:
  1. Unpack the file you just downloaded the icons in a folder created inside the program 7-zip (eg “C: programmi7-zipICONE”) .. so you do not risk losing the associations with these icons if you were to move the folder in which you unpack it.
  2. Open any window in Windows and click on “Tools> Folder Options> File Types
  3. In the window that opens trovaer all types of files associated with z-zip and click on “Advanced” you’re done, you can choose for each type of file the icon you just downloaded you will find in the compressed folder.

(instead of the program 7-zip you can find it here)
